- 2 cups uncooked penne pasta
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish, combine the uncooked penne pasta, marinara sauce, water, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
- Cover the skillet or dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Carefully remove the foil and stir the pasta mixture. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
- Return the skillet to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil if desired before serving.
Notes
- For a heartier dish, add cooked ground beef or Italian sausage to the pasta mixture before baking.
- You can also substitute the marinara sauce with your favorite pesto for a different flavor profile.
