Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and cut into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (or brown sugar for a deeper flavor)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the apple strips with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar.
  4. Place the flour in a shallow dish, the beaten egg in another shallow dish, and the panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
  5. Coat each apple strip first in flour, then dip it into the beaten egg, and finally coat it with panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the apple fries are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm.
