Description

A simple and delicious recipe for Mongolian meatballs that are easy to prepare and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, green onions, egg, garlic, salt, black pepper, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water. Stir until the mixture thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. Once the meatballs are done, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the baked meatballs and pour the sauce over them. Toss to coat and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with extra green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • You can also add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli to the sauce for added nutrition.
  • For a spicy kick, drizzle with sriracha before serving.
