Description

Florida Shrimp Pie is a creamy and flavorful coastal classic that combines shrimp with a rich filling in a flaky pie crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, mayonnaise, and eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, red bell pepper, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice.
  5. Fold in the cooked shrimp until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the shrimp mixture into the pre-made pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of hot sauce to the filling.
  • Substitute crab meat or lobster for shrimp for a different seafood flavor.
