A delicious and cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole that combines ground beef, hash browns, and cheddar cheese for a comforting meal.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups frozen hash browns (thawed)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup crushed cornflakes (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, thawed hash browns, 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well combined.
- Gently fold in the sour cream.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top. If using, sprinkle crushed cornflakes over the cheese for added crunch.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and golden on top.
- Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- To make it a complete meal, serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables for added nutrition.
