Description

A delicious and cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole that combines ground beef, hash browns, and cheddar cheese for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups frozen hash browns (thawed)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, thawed hash browns, 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well combined.
  4. Gently fold in the sour cream.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top. If using, sprinkle crushed cornflakes over the cheese for added crunch.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and golden on top.
  8. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
  • To make it a complete meal, serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables for added nutrition.
