Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together until creamy and smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may look slightly underbaked; they will continue to cook on the baking sheet.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
- Experiment with different types of chocolate chips, such as dark chocolate or white chocolate, or add dried fruit for a unique twist.
