Description
Hot Honey Halloumi is a deliciously sweet and savory dish featuring grilled halloumi cheese drizzled with a spicy honey sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces halloumi cheese, sliced into ½-inch thick pieces
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley) for garnish
- Crusty bread or crackers for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or a non-stick skillet over medium heat. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey and red pepper flakes. Heat over low heat until warm, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice.
- Brush the halloumi slices with olive oil on both sides.
- Place the halloumi on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Once cooked, transfer the halloumi to a serving platter. Drizzle the hot honey mixture over the cheese and garnish with fresh herbs.
- Serve immediately with crusty bread or crackers for dipping.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika to the honey mixture.
- Try adding sliced fresh figs or pears on top of the halloumi for a sweet and savory twist.
