- 4 plain bagels, sliced in half
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 8 ounces smoked salmon
- 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons capers, drained
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Begin by toasting the bagel halves until golden brown and crispy.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on each toasted bagel half.
- Layer the smoked salmon evenly over the cream cheese on each bagel.
- Top the salmon with cucumber slices, red onion slices, and a few capers.
- Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add a few slices of jalapeño or a drizzle of sriracha on top.
- Substitute the cream cheese with Greek yogurt for a lighter option, or try flavored cream cheeses like chive or garlic for added taste.
