Description

Steak frites is a classic dish featuring perfectly seared ribeye steaks served with crispy French fries, embodying restaurant-style perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick, 12 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 pound frozen French fries
  • Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the French fries package instructions.
  2. While the oven is heating, season both sides of the ribeye steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare).
  4. In the last minute of cooking, add the butter, minced garlic, and rosemary to the skillet. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks as they finish cooking.
  5. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate, covered loosely with foil, for about 5 minutes.
  6. While the steaks are resting, cook the French fries according to the package instructions until golden and crispy.
  7. Slice the rested steaks against the grain and serve alongside the hot French fries. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, consider adding a dash of smoked paprika to the steak seasoning.
  • Swap out the French fries for sweet potato fries for a healthier twist.
