Description
Steak frites is a classic dish featuring perfectly seared ribeye steaks served with crispy French fries, embodying restaurant-style perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick, 12 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 pound frozen French fries
- Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven according to the French fries package instructions.
- While the oven is heating, season both sides of the ribeye steaks generously with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare).
- In the last minute of cooking, add the butter, minced garlic, and rosemary to the skillet. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks as they finish cooking.
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate, covered loosely with foil, for about 5 minutes.
- While the steaks are resting, cook the French fries according to the package instructions until golden and crispy.
- Slice the rested steaks against the grain and serve alongside the hot French fries. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, consider adding a dash of smoked paprika to the steak seasoning.
- Swap out the French fries for sweet potato fries for a healthier twist.
