Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your desired strength.
  3. While the tea is steeping, place the sliced strawberries in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  4. After steeping, remove the tea bags and stir in the granulated sugar until dissolved.
  5. Combine the strawberry puree with the sweetened tea in a large pitcher. Add the vanilla extract if using. Stir well.
  6. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  7. To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled strawberry iced tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

  • For a lighter version, reduce the sugar or substitute with a sugar alternative like honey or agave syrup.
