Description

A refreshing and flavorful Thai Beef Salad, also known as Yum Nua, featuring grilled flank steak and a zesty dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup mixed salad greens

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Rub the flank steak with vegetable oil, salt, and black pepper. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and chili paste until the sugar is dissolved. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sliced beef, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, and mint. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
  4. Serve the salad over a bed of mixed greens. Enjoy immediately or chill in the refrigerator for up to 30 minutes for a refreshing taste.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the beef with grilled tofu or tempeh.
  • Add sliced bell peppers or avocado for extra flavor and nutrition.
