A quick and tasty recipe for EASY Thai Basil Chicken, also known as Pad Kra Pao, featuring ground chicken and fresh Thai basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 Thai bird’s eye chilies, finely chopped (adjust for spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • Cooked jasmine rice, for serving
  • Sliced cucumber and lime wedges, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and chopped chilies to the skillet, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to high and add the ground chicken. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Mix well and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the fresh Thai basil leaves until just wilted.
  6. Serve the Thai basil chicken over cooked jasmine rice, garnished with sliced cucumber and lime wedges.
