Step-by-Step Instructions
- Grease and flour a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan and preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, sour cream, and softened butter. Beat on medium speed until creamy and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add eggs to the mixture, blend until incorporated. Mash ripe bananas and stir into the batter with vanilla extract.
- Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt to the wet batter. Stir gently until just combined, be careful not to overmix.
- If using walnuts, fold them in at this stage. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter until golden brown and nutty in aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until you achieve desired frosting consistency.
- Spread brown butter frosting over warm brownies. Let them cool completely in the pan before slicing.
- Transfer to a cutting board and slice into squares or bars. Serve and enjoy!

Notes
Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness. Do not overmix to keep the brownies tender. Frost while warm for best results.
