  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F (45°C)
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast fresh for best results
  • 0.33 cup granulated sugar for dough
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted for dough
  • 1 teaspoon salt to enhance flavor
  • 2 large eggs can substitute with flax eggs
  • 4-4.5 cups all-purpose flour measure accurately

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the yeast mixture, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Mix well and gradually stir in flour until smooth.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until soft and elastic. Shape into a ball and place in a greased bowl.
  4. Cover the bowl and let rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until dough has doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl.
  6. Roll the risen dough into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick on a floured surface.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the filling and chopped apples evenly.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and slice into 12-14 rolls. Place cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
  9. Cover the rolls and let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  11. Make caramel glaze by melting butter, stirring in brown sugar and milk until smooth, then whisk in powdered sugar.
  12. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving and enjoy!
