Preparation Steps
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the yeast mixture, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Mix well and gradually stir in flour until smooth.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until soft and elastic. Shape into a ball and place in a greased bowl.
- Cover the bowl and let rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until dough has doubled in size.
- Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Roll the risen dough into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick on a floured surface.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the filling and chopped apples evenly.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and slice into 12-14 rolls. Place cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
- Make caramel glaze by melting butter, stirring in brown sugar and milk until smooth, then whisk in powdered sugar.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving and enjoy!
