  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese or Monterey Jack
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese optional
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Italian Seasoning or favorite herbs
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika smoked paprika for bolder taste
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 cup Beef Broth or Water vegetable broth for lighter flavor
  • 1/4 cup Milk optional for creaminess
  • to taste Fresh Parsley for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat and cook the ground beef for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart, until browned.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft.
  4. Transfer the cooked beef mixture into the greased baking dish, layer with thinly sliced potatoes, and season with salt, pepper, dried Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the potatoes and pour beef broth around the edges. Drizzle milk if desired.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbling and golden.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve.
