Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 large tomato sliced
  • ½ cup dill pickles sliced
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Top with shredded lettuce, a burger patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, dill pickles, and a drizzle of ketchup and mustard. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For added flavor, mix in chopped fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro into the beef mixture.
  • Try swapping the cheddar cheese for pepper jack for a spicy kick or using turkey or plant-based patties for a lighter option.
