Ingredients

For the Apple Fries
  • 2 large Apples Use Granny Smith for tartness or Honeycrisp for sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour Can be swapped for gluten-free flour.
  • 2 large Eggs Beaten to bind the coating.
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs For added crunch; regular breadcrumbs can also work.
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon Enhances flavor with warmth.
  • 2 tbsp Granulated Sugar Adds subtle sweetness.
  • Cooking Spray Promotes a crispy finish.
Dipping Sauce Options
  • 1/2 cup Caramel Sauce Optional, complements sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup Vanilla Yogurt Optional, fresh and tangy.

Equipment

  • Air fryer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash and optionally peel the apples. Slice them into 1/2-inch wedges, removing the core and seeds. Mix cinnamon and sugar in a bowl for coating.
  2. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with half of the cinnamon-sugar.
  3. Coat each apple slice in flour, then dip in egg and press into panko mixture. Set aside on a plate.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place apple slices in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding. Lightly spray with cooking spray and cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. Remove the apple fries once golden and crisp, sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar, and serve with dipping sauces.
