Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry to about ¼ inch thick on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Layer slices of Black Forest ham and Gruyère cheese on top.
  4. Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the filled sheet. Press down on the edges to seal.
  5. Beat an egg until smooth and brush over the assembled puff pastry stacks.
  6. Bake the stacks on a baking sheet for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for about 3-5 minutes before serving.
