  • 1 tablespoon Flour For dusting.
For the Filling
  • 8 ounces Ham Thinly sliced Black Forest or Virginia ham.
  • 8 ounces Cheese Aged Gruyère, Swiss, or cheddar.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard Optional for additional flavor.
For the Finish
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Place one rectangle of puff pastry on your baking sheet, layer with optional Dijon mustard, ham, and cheese, leaving a small border.
  4. Top with a second rectangle of puff pastry, press down the edges to seal, and crimp with a fork.
  5. Beat the egg and brush it over each pastry stack.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before cutting into squares or rectangles.
