  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef or Turkey/Chicken
  • 2 tbsp Taco Seasoning store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup Shredded Carrot optional, can substitute with zucchini
  • 1 cup Chopped Bell Pepper or Baby Spinach optional, substitute with other veg
For the Hand Pies
  • 2 pieces Pie Crusts unbaked, ready-made or homemade
  • 1/3 cup Shredded Mexican Cheese optional, substitute with dairy-free cheese
  • 1 large Egg for brushing
For Serving
  • 1 cup Salsa for dipping, can substitute with guacamole

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare Taco Filling: Cook the ground beef, turkey, or chicken in a skillet until browned. Add taco seasoning and optional veggies, then cook for another minute. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  2. Cut Ghost Shapes: Roll out pie crusts on a floured surface to 1/8 inch thick. Use ghost cookie cutters to cut shapes and lay out on a lined baking sheet.
  3. Fill Ghosts: Spoon taco filling onto half of the ghost cut-outs and sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  4. Seal the Hand Pies: Place a second ghost cut-out on top and press edges to seal, using a fork to crimp.
  5. Apply Egg Wash & Bake: Preheat oven to 425°F. Brush egg over tops and bake for 10-14 minutes, until golden.
  6. Serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with salsa or guacamole.
