Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 slices of bread thick-cut, such as brioche or Texas toast
  • Cooking spray or melted butter for the waffle iron
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar optional, for serving

Method

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Lightly grease it with cooking spray or melted butter.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side to absorb the liquid.
  4. Place the soaked bread slices onto the preheated waffle iron. Close the lid and cook according to your waffle iron's instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Carefully remove the waffles and repeat the process with the remaining slices of bread.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
