  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced

  • 2 medium Zucchini sliced
For the Cheese Mixture
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese shredded
  • 1 cup Ricotta Cheese
For the Sauce and Seasoning
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes optional
For the Topping
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese grated

Method
 

Step-By-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Introduce the ground beef to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with half of the mozzarella until smooth.
  6. Grease a baking dish and layer with zucchini slices, half of the beef mixture, the cheese mixture, and repeat layers finishing with zucchini and beef.
  7. Top with remaining mozzarella and a layer of Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
