Ingredients

For the Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Provides the main protein and savory flavor; can be replaced with ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter version.
  • 1 small Onion Adds sweetness and depth to the meat sauce; shallots or green onions may work as alternatives.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Enhances flavor profile; fresh garlic is preferred for best taste, but garlic powder can be used in a pinch.
  • 1 cup Crispy Cooked Bacon Adds crunch and a smoky flavor; cook until crispy for the best texture.
  • 1 jar Marinara Sauce Forms the base of the meat sauce; homemade tomato sauce or a spicier version can add extra flavor.
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning Provides a blend of herbs for seasoning; a custom mix of oregano, basil, and thyme can be used.
  • 0.5 tsp Smoked Paprika Adds a smoky depth; regular paprika can be used but will lack the smoke flavor.
  • Salt Essential for seasoning; season to taste throughout cooking.
  • Pepper Essential for seasoning; season to taste throughout cooking.
For the Béchamel Sauce
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted Butter Base for béchamel sauce; can be substituted for olive oil in a vegan variation.
  • 3 tbsp All-Purpose Flour Thickens the béchamel sauce; gluten-free flour blend can be used for a gluten-free option.
  • 2 cups Whole Milk Creates a creamy béchamel; almond milk or other dairy alternatives may be used for a lighter option.
  • 1.5 cups Grated Parmesan Cheese Adds a nutty flavor and creaminess to the béchamel; freshly grated works best.
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder Boosts garlic flavor in béchamel; can be increased or omitted based on preference.
For the Lasagna Assembly
  • 12 pieces Lasagna Noodles Forms the layers in the lasagna; zucchini noodles can be used for a low-carb option.
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Offers meltiness and gooey texture; low-moisture mozzarella is recommended for a firmer texture.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Adds sharpness and additional flavor; any favorite cheese can work.
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Fresh Parsley For garnish and a fresh touch; can be omitted or replaced with basil.

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Medium saucepan
  • baking dish

Method

Prepare the Meat Sauce
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef, stirring occasionally for about 6-8 minutes until fully cooked. Add 1 small diced onion, sautéing for 4-5 minutes until tender and translucent. Stir in 3 minced garlic cloves, cooking for another minute, then mix in 24 ounces of marinara sauce, 1 cup of crumbled crispy bacon, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon of smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. Let simmer for 10 minutes, then set aside.
Make the Parmesan Garlic Béchamel
  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter, then whisk in 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour for 1-2 minutes until bubbling. Gradually pour in 2 cups of whole milk while whisking continuously, cooking until the mixture thickens to a creamy consistency, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, seasoning with salt and pepper. Remove from heat once well combined.
Assemble the Lasagna
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a greased baking dish, begin layering by spreading a thin layer of the meat sauce across the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles (cooked al dente) on top, then drizzle with béchamel sauce and sprinkle with ½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and ⅓ cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Repeat this layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of béchamel and a generous topping of cheese.
Bake and Rest
  1. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. After this time, carefully remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. Once done, take the Parmesan Garlic Bacon Cheeseburger Lasagna out of the oven, allowing it to rest for 10 minutes before slicing to ensure the layers hold their shape.
