  • 4 tbsp butter essential for making the roux
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour whisk with butter to prevent lumps
  • 1 cup whole milk low-fat milk can be substituted
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream half-and-half is a lighter alternative
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese for best flavor, use Parmigiano-Reggiano

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the cooked chicken, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, salt, pepper, and melted butter in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Open and unroll the crescent roll dough, flattening the triangles for uniform thickness.
  4. Place a scoop of creamy chicken filling on each dough triangle, fold, and pinch to seal.
  5. Brush the tops with beaten egg and optionally sprinkle panko breadcrumbs before baking.
  6. Bake the Chicken Pillows for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then add milk and cream until thickened. Stir in Parmesan and spices.
  8. Serve the Chicken Pillows drizzled with the creamy Parmesan sauce.
