Ingredients

Batter Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour You can substitute with gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Essential for rising; do not substitute!
  • ½ teaspoon salt Enhances flavor; common table salt works well.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adds warmth; consider using nutmeg for a twist.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Works with baking soda for proper rising; ensure it’s fresh.
  • ¾ cup white sugar Feel free to reduce it slightly if desired.
  • ¾ cup dark brown sugar Melts into the bread for richness; light brown sugar can substitute.
  • 2 large eggs Provide moisture and structure; use room temperature for better mixing.
  • ½ cup vegetable oil Keeps the bread moist; melted butter gives a richer taste.
  • 1 cup whole milk Adds moisture; almond milk or other non-dairy options can be used.
  • ¼ cup bourbon Infuses depth and complexity; non-alcoholic extracts can work as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract Enhances the maple flavor; replace with maple syrup but adjust moisture levels.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds a warm note; both pure and imitation varieties work well.
  • 2 cups mashed overripe bananas The star of the recipe, the browner, the better!
  • 1 cup chopped toffee Introduces a sweet, chewy texture; dark chocolate chips can also be used.
