  • 1 cup Canned Pumpkin Puree homemade works if strained
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar light or dark based on preference
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon or swap in pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger fresh grated for extra zing
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
For the Topping
  • 1 each Egg (beaten) or non-dairy egg wash for vegan
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered Sugar optional finishing touch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out thawed puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and spices until smooth.
  4. Spread the filling evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges firmly.
  6. Cut the filled pastry into 1-inch strips and twist each strip several times.
  7. Brush the tops of the twisted pastries with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
