Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 2 cups cooked rice white or brown
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli or any preferred vegetable
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  4. While the beef mixture is cooking, prepare the rice according to package instructions if not already cooked.
  5. Serve the beef mixture over a bed of rice, topped with steamed broccoli and sliced green onions. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish.
