Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small saucepan.
Once boiling, remove from heat and add the Earl Grey tea leaves or tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes.
While the tea is steeping, heat the milk in a separate saucepan over medium heat until steaming, but not boiling. You can also froth the milk if desired.
After steeping, remove the tea leaves or tea bags and stir in the vanilla syrup. If you like it sweeter, add honey or sugar to taste.
In a large mug, pour the brewed tea mixture and then add the steamed milk.
If using, sprinkle lavender on top for garnish.
