Ingredients

For the Meatloaf
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Choose an 80/20 fat ratio for optimum moisture.
  • 1 cup Shredded Swiss Cheese Feel free to substitute with mozzarella or cheddar if you prefer.
  • 6 slices Cooked Bacon Turkey bacon works well for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup Sautéed Mushrooms Button or cremini mushrooms are great choices.
  • 1 small Onion (finely diced) Shallots can be a milder substitute.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Using fresh cloves over pre-minced will enhance flavor.
  • 2 large Eggs Essential for binding and helping the loaf rise.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Panko gives it a delightful crunch.
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce For a gluten-free option, use soy sauce.
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust according to your taste.
  • 1 tsp Pepper Adjust according to your taste.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley (optional, for garnish) Adds a burst of color and freshness.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your loaf pan by lightly greasing it or lining a baking sheet with foil.
  2. Cook diced bacon over medium heat until crispy and golden brown (6-8 minutes). Remove and set aside, then sauté mushrooms in the remaining fat until browned (5-7 minutes).
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf in the prepared pan. Press Swiss cheese cubes into the center, add sautéed mushrooms and crispy bacon.
  5. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the top is golden brown.
  6. Allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
