Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Toss the pitted cherries with olive oil and spread them on a baking sheet. Roast for 15 minutes until they are soft and slightly caramelized. Remove from the oven and let cool.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar, stirring until well blended. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Fold in the roasted cherries and chocolate chips.
Pour the brownie batter into a greased 8x8-inch baking pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
