Ingredients

Dates
  • 12 pieces Medjool Dates Can substitute with deglet dates.
Filling
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Peanut Butter Can substitute with almond, cashew, or sunflower seed butter.
Drizzle
  • 1 cup Melted Chocolate Chips Use dairy-free chocolate to keep it vegan.

Equipment

  • microwave
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Butter Knife
  • Spatula
  • Bowl

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by preheating your kitchen and laying out a parchment-lined baking sheet. Take each medjool date and carefully slice it lengthwise to remove the pit, then lay them flat on the parchment paper, cut side up.
  2. Using a clean palm or the bottom of a cup, press down gently on each date until they are flattened to your desired thickness—about half an inch works great.
  3. Spread a generous layer of creamy peanut butter over each smashed date, ensuring an even coat for maximum richness.
  4. Melt your chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl for about 30-60 seconds, stirring halfway through until smooth and glossy. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the peanut butter-coated dates.
  5. Place the baking sheet with the prepared dates into the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
  6. Remove your Smashed Dates from the fridge and sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt over each one.
