Preparation Steps
- Begin by preheating your kitchen and laying out a parchment-lined baking sheet. Take each medjool date and carefully slice it lengthwise to remove the pit, then lay them flat on the parchment paper, cut side up.
- Using a clean palm or the bottom of a cup, press down gently on each date until they are flattened to your desired thickness—about half an inch works great.
- Spread a generous layer of creamy peanut butter over each smashed date, ensuring an even coat for maximum richness.
- Melt your chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl for about 30-60 seconds, stirring halfway through until smooth and glossy. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the peanut butter-coated dates.
- Place the baking sheet with the prepared dates into the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
- Remove your Smashed Dates from the fridge and sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt over each one.
