Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add in the lightly beaten egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until fully combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stirring until just mixed.
  6. Using a cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the lined baking sheet, leaving space between each mound.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the centers remain soft.
  8. Press nine pastel M&Ms into each cookie as soon as they come out of the oven.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
