Description

Crispy Chicken Tacos are a delicious and easy-to-make dish featuring seasoned, fried chicken served in warm corn tortillas with fresh toppings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the spices.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk until well combined.
  3. Place the flour in a shallow dish. In another shallow dish, add the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until hot (around 350°F).
  5. Take a portion of the seasoned chicken and dip it into the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the panko breadcrumbs. Repeat with the remaining chicken.
  6. Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable.
  8. Assemble the tacos by placing a few pieces of crispy chicken on each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and avocado slices. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy your crispy chicken tacos!
